Moved to Motherhood
Mimi didn’t become a mother in the traditional sense. She wasn’t expecting a baby, signing adoption papers, or marrying into motherhood. Instead, she answered one of the most difficult calls of her life—and said yes.
Jasper, a child with complex medical needs whom she was connected to through a high school classmate, was no longer safe at home. With no time to prepare and no hesitation in her heart, Mimi said yes to taking him into her care. Just three hours later he was at her front door. In an instant, she became his foster mom, and her life was forever changed.
Mimi quickly became a steady, loving foster mom for Jasper. As a surgical technician, she had the skills to meet his medical needs, but it was her unwavering love and the support of her team at CEDARS that helped her become the advocate he needed. She worked tirelessly to connect him to the right specialists and services. And her efforts are all paying off: after months of care, Jasper has reached a milestone many thought would take much longer—he started to crawl.
“It shows what love can do,” said Mimi.
As Jasper has grown stronger, so has Mimi’s confidence as a foster parent. Inspired by their journey together, she’s opened her heart and home to more children, offering them the stability and safety every child deserves.
Mimi is a true testament of what it means to be here for kids and families. Her story is a reminder that motherhood comes in many forms, and the heart of a mom is defined by love.
CEDARS wants to wish all moms, no matter how their journey began, a very happy Mother’s Day! Your love makes all the difference. 💙
