How CEDARS Keeps Kids Safe Tonight

Because safety can’t wait until tomorrow.

Imagine being a child who does not know where they will sleep tonight.

For too many kids right here in our community, it’s a reality.

That’s why CEDARS is here. Through emergency shelter, street outreach, and crisis services, we help kids find safety, stability, and hope when they need it most.

In the last year, CEDARS provided 98,961 nights of safety for kids who needed a safe place to turn. Some of these nights happened at CEDARS 24/7 emergency shelter for kids experiencing abuse, neglect, homelessness, or family crisis who have no other safe place to sleep.

When kids cannot safely live at home, CEDARS helps provide the safety and stability of a family home. Last year, CEDARS foster families opened their hearts and homes to 392 kids, offering not just shelter, but belonging and support. For older youth ready for more independence, CEDARS-supported apartments provide a safe place to live while they build skills like budgeting, healthy eating, education, and caring for a home.

CEDARS also supports kids experiencing or at risk of homelessness through Street Outreach Services and the Youth Outreach Center (YOC). At the YOC, kids can eat, maintain hygiene routines, look for jobs and housing, connect with resources, and find a safe place to be. Last year, the YOC served 238 kids who were working toward more stability and a brighter future.

Every safe night matters. And every night a child finds safety at CEDARS is possible because of people like you. Community support helps ensure these critical services remain available.

Together, we can make sure every kid is safe tonight. Tomorrow. Always.
