Lucas's Story
Meet Lucas, an artistic and outgoing teenager staying at CEDARS.
When Lucas first moved to Lincoln, he spent his days doing what other teens do: attending high school, playing video games, and socializing with friends. But when it was no longer safe for him to stay at home, Lucas was forced to shift his priorities. At a time when he should have been focusing on being a kid, he was instead left wondering where he would be sleeping that night.
After not having a safe place to stay for nearly a year, the CEDARS team was connected with Lucas and brought him to stay in our care. He quickly bonded with the other kids and staff at CEDARS, always finding time to socialize with them. In addition, he was able to begin doing the things he loved again, like going for walks and watching anime. Lucas also started showcasing his incredible artistic ability through sketches and drawings, which he creates often and loves to share with others.
Today, Lucas is doing exceptionally well. CEDARS is helping him transition into independent living and gain the skills necessary to thrive in the community. We are so happy that we could be here for Lucas and help him overcome his challenges!
